DNA Pro-FILES Forensic DNA Laboratory Management System Synchrone InfoSystème developed this Forensic DNA Management System for the Laboratoire de sciences judiciaires et de médecine légale, service de biologie (Québec Government DNA forensic lab). INTEGRATION DNA Pro-FILES manages all the processes necessary for the DNA analysis of the elements of evidence subjected by the police forces. The genetic profiles obtained are analysed and transfered directly for the production of expert reports. Since its entry in operation in 2001, the system has been in constant evolution in order to adapt to the implementation of new technologies. INCREASE IN THE PRODUCTIVITY The use of DNA Pro-FILES permits an important increase in the productivity of the forensic biology department in response to the strong growth of requests for DNA analysis. DNA Pro-FILES uses a barcode system allowing the identification and the follow-up of the samples throughout the procedure of analysis. This system accelerates the data entry by eliminating the redundant captures and reduces the risks of errors to the minimum. The organization for work analysis in laboratory is managed in order to maximize the resources; the worksheets are produced automatically or manually for a greater flexibility. DNA Pro-FILES transfers the data towards the automatisation platform and the analysis equipments in order to avoid manual entry of informations. The results of these analyses are recovered by DNA Pro-FILES in order to be validated by the forensic expert. It is also easy to consult all the analysis carried out for a specific case file, thus making it possible to quickly answer an applicant request. Moreover, the production of statistical reports ensures a follow-up of the operations in the laboratory. FLEXIBILITY DNA Pro-FILES adapts easily to the specificities of each laboratory. It is possible to integrate it into the data sources (ODBC-compliant) currently used. Moreover, this system consists of several modules and each stage of the analysis is managed independently. It is thus easy to modify this system according to the needs. |
